Privacy Policy: YourVoiceYourFuture
Last updated: July 6, 2026
This policy explains what information YourVoiceYourFuture (“the company,” “we,” “us”) collects when you use our forum at https://yourvoiceyourfuture.discourse.group, and how we use, protect, and retain it. Our community is built for high school and college students, so we’ve tried to keep this in plain language — if anything is unclear, reach out (see Contact, below).
If you are under 18, we encourage you to review this policy with a parent or guardian before creating an account.
What information do we collect?
We collect information from you when you register on our site, and gather data when you participate in the forum by reading, writing, and evaluating the content shared here.
When registering, you may be asked to enter your name and e-mail address. You may, however, visit our site without registering. Your e-mail address will be verified by an email containing a unique link — if that link is visited, we know that you control the e-mail address.
When registered and posting, we record the IP address that the post originated from. We also may retain server logs which include the IP address of every request to our server.
What do we use your information for?
Any of the information we collect from you may be used to:
- Personalize your experience — your information helps us better respond to your individual needs as a member of the forum.
- Improve the forum — we continually try to improve the site based on feedback and usage patterns.
- Provide support — your information helps us respond to your questions or account issues.
- Send periodic emails — your e-mail address may be used to send you notifications about replies to your posts, changes to topics you’re following, responses to inquiries, or other requests you’ve made. We won’t email you for anything beyond the forum’s own operation.
How do we protect your information?
We implement reasonable security measures to protect your personal information when you enter, submit, or access it through the forum. No online system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps consistent with a small community site to keep your data safe.
What is our data retention policy?
We make a good-faith effort to retain server logs containing the IP address of requests to this server no more than 90 days, after which they are deleted or anonymized.
If you close your account, we will remove your registration information within a reasonable time, though posts you’ve made to public discussion topics may remain visible (with your username detached or anonymized on request) so that ongoing conversations stay intact for other members.
Do we use cookies?
Yes. Cookies are small files that a site or its service provider transfers to your device through your web browser, if you allow it. These cookies let the site recognize your browser and, if you have a registered account, associate it with that account.
We use cookies to remember your preferences between visits and to understand overall site traffic and interaction, so we can improve the forum experience. We do not use cookies to build advertising profiles.
Do we share information with outside parties?
We do not sell, trade, or share your personal information with outside parties for marketing or advertising purposes.
We may share information with trusted third parties who help us operate the site (for example, our hosting provider), so long as those parties agree to keep the information confidential and use it only to help us run the forum. We may also disclose information when required by law, to enforce our site policies, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of our members or the public.
Third-party links
From time to time, the forum may link to outside websites or resources related to our discussion topics. These sites have their own, independent privacy policies. We aren’t responsible for their content or practices, though we welcome feedback if you encounter something concerning through a link on our forum.
Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) Compliance
Our site, and the discussions on it, are directed at people who are at least 18 years old. If you are under the age of 18, per the requirements of COPPA, please do not use this site or submit any personal information to us.
If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child under 13 has registered or submitted information to the forum, please contact us at [INSERT CONTACT EMAIL] so we can remove it.
A note for student members
Because many of our members are minors, we try to collect only what’s needed to run the forum, an email for verification and login, and the posts you choose to share. If you’re a parent or guardian and have questions about your teen’s account or want information removed, you’re welcome to contact us directly (see below); we’re happy to work with you.
Online privacy policy only
This online privacy policy applies only to information collected through our site, not to information collected offline.
Your consent
By using our site, you consent to this privacy policy.
Changes to this policy
If we decide to change this privacy policy, we will post the updated version on this page and update the date at the top. For substantial changes, we’ll also try to notify registered members by email.
